SPEAK OUT!® Speech Therapy Program
A new program is available for our patients with Parkinson’s Disease that includes individual speech and group therapy speech sessions. Made available through a recent grant from the Parkinson Voice Project, patients will benefit at Chatham Hospital as well as Chatham Rehabilitation Services at Pittsboro.
What to Expect from SPEAK OUT! ® Therapy
The focus of the program is speaking with intent aimed to help patients with communication barriers due to impaired articulation and/or voice. SPEAK OUT! offers patients:
- 12 individual therapy sessions
- Daily home practice opportunities with family/caregiver support
- Follow-Up evaluations
Most sessions will be 40 minutes.
Once a patient has completed the SPEAK OUT!® program they are eligible to participate in the LOUD CROWD, a weekly group speech therapy practice, at no cost. Unfortunately, due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the groups are not able to meet in person.
Physician Referral Needed
Referrals for speech evaluation may be sent to UNC Chatham Hospital Outpatient Rehabilitation in Siler City or Chatham Rehabilitation Services in Pittsboro.
