UNC Health Chatham Board of Trustees Welcomes Four New Members

SILER CITY, N.C., Feb. 20, 2022 – UNC Health Chatham is proud to introduce the new leadership and members of the hospital’s Board of Trustees:

  • Mark Hall was elected to serve as board chair for 2024. Hall is the provost for Central Carolina Community College.
  • Franklin Gomez-Flores was elected to serve as vice chair for 2024. The honorable Gomez-Flores is currently serving on the Chatham County Board of Commissioners.
  • Ashlyn Martin was elected to join the hospital board for a 3-year term. She is currently the director of Chatham County Aging Services.
  • Michael Zelek was elected to join the board for a 3-year term. He is currently the director of the Chatham County Public Health Department.

“Our community board members serve a crucial function by being our eyes, ears, as well as voice within the Chatham County community,” said Jeff Strickler, President of UNC Health Chatham. “They assure that our organization remains true to our mission of serving Chatham County and keeping as much care as possible close to home. We so appreciate their continued service to the hospital and to their community.”

The hospital would also like to thank Angelynn McClary for leading the board as chair for the past two years. She will be remaining on the board for 2024. 

UNC Health Chatham recently welcomed Dr. Kelly Holder as the new Medical Director of the UNC Chatham Maternity Care Center. Before joining the team in September 2023, Dr. Holder worked extensively in providing OB/GYN services in rural and community maternity care in Rocky Mount. Since joining the team, Dr. Holder has been working closely with community providers on prenatal healthcare practices and increasing referrals to our Maternity Care Center.

UNC Health Chatham is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Siler City, N.C., that is part of the UNC Health system. With a long history of providing high quality health care to the residents of Chatham and surrounding counties, UNC Health Chatham has received multiple five-star ratings for patient experience from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

The hospital, accredited by The Joint Commission, provides surgical, medical, pediatric, maternity and emergency services. Community based outpatient services in the area of Diabetes Education, Laboratory, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Imaging, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehabilitation are also offered.
